6th September 2011 – South Hook Gas has signed a framework agreement with Chevron Products UK Limited (Chevron) for access to spare LNG import capacity at the South Hook Terminal.

The company already delivers gas to ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Europe and has regasification services agreements with Total Gas & Power, ConocoPhillips, EGL and Trafigura.

Rashid Al-Marri, General Manager at South Hook Gas said, “We’ve said since starting operations that we wanted to help improve security and competition in the UK energy market. We’re now supplying more gas into the UK than any other LNG shipper and by signing new access agreements such as this one with Chevron, we’re fulfilling our promises.”

“Chevron is pleased to enter into this agreement with South Hook Gas,” said Gregor Cameron, General Manager of Chevron Natural Gas Europe. “The agreement provides Chevron with the flexibility to bring LNG into the United Kingdom when opportunities arise.”

South Hook Gas has supplied gas every day into the UK market since commencing operations in 2010, helping to improve security of supply. In little over a year, the company has grown rapidly and can supply around 20% of the UK’s gas.

LNG is a flexible and safe energy source that can provide reliable back-up to intermittent renewable energy supplies such as wind and solar. As one of the cleanest burning hydrocarbons, natural gas can also help the UK to achieve its greenhouse gas emissions targets as it produces around 50% less CO2 than coal.

31st May 2011 - South Hook Gas and EGL have signed a new framework agreement for access to spare LNG import capacity. This agreement will increase the amount of liquefied natural gas (LNG) that may be delivered into the United Kingdom, helping to meet the country’s energy needs and follows on from a similar deal signed by South Hook Gas last month with ConocoPhillips.

South Hook Gas already delivers gas to ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Europe and also provides regasification services to Total Gas & Power. Under this new agreement, when capacity is available, EGL can ship LNG to the South Hook Terminal, Europe’s largest LNG re-gasification terminal, and the LNG is converted into gas and supplied into the UK market.

Rashid Al-Marri, General Manager at South Hook Gas said, “It is just over a year since we commenced operations and we regularly supply around 15% of the UK’s gas requirements. This new agreement with EGL is a significant step forward in promoting the utilisation of the terminal’s capacity.”

Markus Brokhof, Head of the Gas Supply & SEE division and Member of Executive Management at EGL AG said, “We are very pleased to have signed this framework agreement with South Hook Gas. The UK is a key market for LNG and we see various opportunities to increase our gas activities working together with South Hook Gas.”

Nick Taylor, Managing Director at EGL UK said, “This agreement will help to support us in the development of our increasing activities in the UK.”

South Hook Gas has supplied gas every day into the UK market since the commencement of operations in 2009 and can supply around 20% of the UK’s gas requirements.

LNG is a flexible and safe energy source, and as one of the cleanest burning hydrocarbons, natural gas can help the UK to reduce its CO2 emissions whilst providing increased security of supply.

7th April 2011 - South Hook Gas has signed a framework agreement for access to spare LNG import capacity with ConocoPhillips. This will increase the amount of liquefied natural gas (LNG) that may be delivered into the United Kingdom, helping to meet the country’s energy needs. South Hook Gas already delivers gas to ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Europe and to Total Gas & Power from the South Hook LNG terminal in South Wales. This agreement with ConocoPhillips is an additional way for South Hook Gas to provide gas import services to the UK market.

Rashid Al-Marri, General Manager at South Hook Gas said, “We are committed to helping the UK to maintain a competitive gas market and a diverse and secure supply of energy.” South Hook Gas has supplied gas every day into the UK market since the commencement of operations in 2009 and has the ability to supply around 20% of the UK’s gas requirements. LNG is a flexible and safe energy source suitable for gas demand peaks and gas supply disruptions. As one of the cleanest burning hydrocarbons, natural gas can also help the UK to reduce its CO2 emissions whilst providing increased security of supply.

1st April 2010 – LNG importer, South Hook Gas, has today commenced commercial operations and will manage the import and regasification capacity at South Hook Terminal, Europe’s largest LNG import terminal, at Milford Haven in South Wales. The import capacity managed by South Hook Gas is capable of meeting up to 20% of the UK’s annual natural gas requirements.

As the primary shipper at the South Hook Terminal, South Hook Gas holds long-term terminal capacity at the Milford Haven facility and associated pipeline capacity in the Milford Haven pipeline.

Utilising its primary capacity rights, South Hook Gas imports LNG and delivers gas into the UK gas market, by way of gas sales to ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Europe Limited, and by way of regasification services to Total Gas & Power Limited. South Hook Gas also markets Terminal usage to other LNG suppliers to the UK when spare capacity is available.

South Hook Gas General Manager Rashid Al Marri said: “Our ambition is to meet market demand and keep gas flowing into the UK, supporting the UK’s energy security through diversity of supply. The effective operation of the gas market requires that terminal import capacity does not remain idle when there is demand for its use – this is critical for security of gas supply into the UK and efficient response to market demands.

“South Hook Gas has developed a range of attractive market offerings, including flexible regasification services. By managing LNG flowing through the Terminal in an effective manner South Hook Gas will maximise the Terminal’s use.”

The UK has an open, competitive and liquid gas market which is attractive to suppliers and responsive to market demand. Gas delivery arrangements can vary over time in response to market conditions and South Hook Gas can shape its market offerings to suit individual customer requirements.

8th November 2010 - South Hook Gas Company Ltd has reached a significant milestone as it celebrated supply of 100 cargoes into the UK.

The 100th cargo, Zarga, a 344m Q-Max classed vessel, was unloaded safely at the South Hook LNG Terminal in Milford Haven, Wales. From there, it will be regasified and delivered into the GB system.

The Zarga’s arrival comes just weeks before the State of Qatar celebrates an important milestone of its own; that, by the end of 2010, Qatar will have the production capacity of 77 million tonnes of LNG a year. This is the vision of His Highness The Emir, under the guidance of His Excellency Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Premier and Minister for Energy & Industry.

His Excellency Al-Attiyah said “The delivery of the 100th cargo to South Hook Gas is a major milestone in the fulfilment of the State’s vision. It demonstrates Qatar’s commitment to providing the UK with a safe and reliable source of clean burning, natural gas.”

South Hook Gas has been regularly importing LNG into the UK since April 2009 and has, to date, successfully provided 10.3 million tonnes of LNG into the UK; this is enough to supply the total UK gas requirements for up to 2 months.

Rashid Al-Marri, General Manager at South Hook Gas Company, said “South Hook Gas reached an important milestone this weekend. We see this as an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment as a stable, reliable long-term player in the UK, at a time when security of energy supply remains a pressing issue. Gas provides flexibility and is a responsible energy choice. South Hook Gas is powering the nation through LNG.”

South Hook Gas is the biggest LNG importer in the UK, providing 62% of all UK LNG imports during the last gas year.
